1 John 1 opens as a guide to the mechanics of consciousness. Using Neville Goddard’s framework, the Bible is a psychological drama showing how YHVH/LORD (present awareness) assumes Ehyeh/I AM (the desired identity) and how Elohim (the judges and rulers) enforce that reality. Each verse demonstrates this process.
The Word Made Tangible
That which was from the beginning... our hands have handled, of the Word of life. 1 John 1:1
The “Word of life” is the assumed identity itself. YHVH/LORD (present consciousness) assumes Ehyeh/I AM (latent creative state), and Elohim enforces it. “Handling the Word” is the direct experience of imagination made tangible: hearing, seeing, and touching the reality of your own assumed state.
Life Manifested Through Assumption
The life was manifested... and was with the Father, and was manifested unto us. 1 John 1:2
Life arises when YHVH/LORD assumes Ehyeh/I AM fully. “With the Father” situates the life within present awareness. Elohim, the enforcement mechanism, actualises the life declared by the assumed identity. Manifestation occurs because the internal courts of consciousness uphold the assumed state.
Shared Consciousness
That you also may have fellowship with us... and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3
Fellowship represents alignment of consciousness. YHVH/LORD occupies Ehyeh/I AM—the realised idea—and Elohim enforces coherence across the mind. “Jesus Christ” symbolises the fully manifested assumption. Participating means adopting this identity internally, bringing all internal voices into agreement.
Joy as the Result
These things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:4
Joy is the natural outcome when YHVH/LORD assumes Ehyeh/I AM and Elohim enforces the state. The internal courts making reality align with assumption produces a full sense of satisfaction, independent of external circumstances.
God Is Light (Awareness)
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5
“Light” represents clarity of consciousness and the nature of imagination itself. YHVH/LORD perceives clearly, Ehyeh/I AM embodies the desired state, and Elohim enforces this without contradiction. “No darkness” means the internal state is unfragmented, fully aligned, and productive.
Walk the Talk
If we say we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie... 1 John 1:6
Claiming belief while imagining undesired outcomes is self-deception. Darkness is fear or doubt—a mismatch between YHVH/LORD and Ehyeh/I AM. Elohim will always enforce the state that is fully assumed; partial or conflicting assumptions produce failure.
Cleansed by the Creative Act
Walk in the light... and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
Walking in light is persisting in the assumed identity. “Blood” symbolises life; Jesus embodies assumption made tangible. When YHVH/LORD maintains Ehyeh/I AM, Elohim enforces the state and reality reflects the new alignment.
Admit the Misuse
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves... 1 John 1:8
Sin is missing the mark—imagining contrary to the desired state. YHVH/LORD must recognise misalignment; Ehyeh/I AM must be corrected. Elohim enforces whatever is assumed, so awareness of misalignment is essential for conscious correction.
Revision and Redemption
If we confess our sins... he is faithful to forgive us. 1 John 1:9
Confession is acknowledgement of a misaligned state. Revising the assumption restores YHVH/LORD to Ehyeh/I AM. Elohim enforces the corrected state immediately. Freedom arises the moment the internal assumption shifts.
Imagination Requires Responsibility
If we say that we have not sinned... his word is not in us. 1 John 1:10
Living by imagination requires full responsibility. Denying misalignment distances YHVH/LORD from Ehyeh/I AM. The Word (assumed identity) must inhabit awareness fully for Elohim to enforce reality as intended.
