A Psychological Reading of Scripture

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father the I AM

In Genesis we read:

“And God said, Let us make man in OUR image, like us...” — Genesis 1:26

The word “our” is not casual and does not refer to an external congregation. It points to a hidden multiplicity—the judges and rulers of the inner world. These are faculties of mind that silently govern your assumptions, decisions, and self-concept. “Our Father” and “Let us” reflect the same truth: God is your imagination, and the inner court of your being is where creation begins.

“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.” — Matthew 6:9

“Our Father which art in heaven...”

Here, heaven is the realm of imagination within you. Your Father is the I AM—the creative spark directing your inner world. This is the present consciousness (YHVH/LORD) encountering the latent I AM.

“Hallowed be Thy name.”

“Let your name be kept holy.” — Matthew 6:9

To hallow the Name of God is to treat the I AM as sacred in thought and speech. The name embodies the assumed identity. Every statement following it declares what reality will manifest. Saying “I AM healed” aligns YHVH/LORD with Ehyeh/I AM, enforced by Elohim.

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

“Let your kingdom come. Let your pleasure be done, as in heaven, so on earth.” — Matthew 6:10

This aligns with:

“And God said, Let the earth put out grass, plants producing seed, and fruit-trees giving fruit, in which is their seed, by their sort, on the earth: and it was so.” — Genesis 1:11

In Genesis 1:11, the seed within itself symbolizes the creative pattern embedded in imagination before it manifests externally. Heaven and earth mirror one another: the inward assumption of identity (I AM) is enacted outwardly through Elohim. “Thy kingdom come” is the kingdom of Solomon—the temple representing the mind structured by the assumed identity—and is the inwardly sown seed becoming visible: the present consciousness aligned with the I AM, realised in reality.

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

“Give us this day bread for our needs.” — Matthew 6:11

Your “bread” is the daily assumption sustaining consciousness. It is what nourishes the inner judges: the thoughts, beliefs, and words you accept. Whether it is the bread of worry or of confidence, Elohim enforces the state you inhabit through your assumed identity.

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”

“And make us free of our debts, as we have made those free who are in debt to us.” — Matthew 6:12

Forgiveness releases the mind from past states. By forgiving, you prevent previous assumptions from contaminating present consciousness. YHVH/LORD vacates old identities; Ehyeh/I AM asserts the new self; Elohim enforces alignment with the present I AM.

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

“And let us not be put to the test, but keep us safe from the Evil One.” — Matthew 6:13

Temptation is the pull toward facts and appearances, which challenge imagination. Deliverance from evil is the recognition that YHVH/LORD is not bound by outer conditions: the assumed I AM is sovereign, and Elohim upholds its manifestation.

“For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

This phrase affirms that the kingdom exists within consciousness, the power lies in the assumed identity, and the glory is the lived outcome enforced by Elohim. The triad is complete: YHVH/LORD assumes Ehyeh/I AM, and Elohim enforces the result.

Final Thought:

The Lord’s Prayer is a blueprint for creation through inner alignment. Present consciousness (YHVH/LORD) imagines the desired I AM; the assumed identity is sustained internally; and Elohim enforces manifestation. Genesis 1:11 and Matthew 6:10 mirror each other: you imagine, you persist, and the seed takes root in form. The kingdom grows from within when the I AM is consciously assumed and enforced.
