A Psychological Reading of Scripture

The Parallel Between Noah's Flood and Baptism

Water in the Bible represents the conditions and medium through which present consciousness (YHVH/LORD) engages an assumed identity (Ehyeh/I AM), enforced by Elohim (judges and rulers). Across Scripture, movement upon the waters signals the unfolding of latent states into realised states through divine law. These waters function as a matrix — a structured environment in which identity is retained, tested, and brought to completion.

Genesis 1:2 — Spirit and Waters

“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

YHVH/LORD perceives the waters, representing the potential field of creation. Ehyeh/I AM is the latent state to be assumed, while Elohim enforces the separation of light from darkness and the establishment of order. The waters form a structured matrix, providing the framework in which the new state can emerge and be maintained.

Noah’s Flood — Purification and Preservation

“And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

Noah represents the present consciousness steadfast in a chosen Ehyeh/I AM. The flood waters, lasting forty days and nights, test persistence and alignment with the assumed state. Elohim enforces separation: those aligned with the chosen state enter the ark; those who are not remain outside. The waters themselves function as a matrix, holding and structuring the conditions so that the assumed identity can survive and be realised.

“And Noah did according unto all that God commanded him.”

YHVH/LORD observes and responds, Ehyeh/I AM is assumed, and Elohim ensures continuity of the new order within the matrix of the floodwaters.

The Ark — A Vessel of Identity

The ark maintains the new state within the matrix of the flood. YHVH/LORD occupies it, Ehyeh/I AM is assumed within, and Elohim enforces its preservation and eventual emergence. This reflects the principle of leaving old states and fully cleaving to the new identity, structured by the surrounding waters.

Baptism — Entering the New State

“Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him…”

Baptism enacts the presentation of a new identity. YHVH/LORD descends into the water, Ehyeh/I AM is assumed, and Elohim upholds the outcome. The waters, as a matrix, hold the structure of the new state. Rising from the water signifies the establishment of the new state in consciousness, within the structured field that ensures continuity and completion.

John 3:5 — Water and Spirit

“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

Water represents the conditions for assuming a new state; Spirit represents the active adoption of that state. YHVH/LORD presents the new state, Ehyeh/I AM is assumed, and Elohim enforces its realisation. The matrix of the waters ensures that the assumed identity is preserved until it is fully manifest.

Jesus on the Water — Mastery Over Conditions

“And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.”

Jesus walking on water and calming storms demonstrates to mastery over the conditions through which identity is enacted. YHVH/LORD remains steady, Ehyeh/I AM is fully assumed, and Elohim enforces the manifestation. The disciples observe plurality unified under one assumed identity. The waters act as a matrix — structured, containing, and regulating the conditions for identity to be fully realised, even amidst turbulence.

Continuous Creation — The Spirit Moves

The recurring movement upon the waters illustrates the principle of continuous creation. Every time a new state is assumed, YHVH/LORD presents Ehyeh/I AM, and Elohim enforces it. Seeds, trees, vines, and wine are narrative symbols showing latent potential realised within the matrix of water — a structured field that carries the assumption to completion.

Conclusion — Purify, Assume, Realise

The flood, baptism, and Jesus’ miracles on water reveal the biblical mechanics of transformation: YHVH/LORD presents the chosen state, Ehyeh/I AM is assumed, and Elohim enforces its manifestation. Water represents the structured conditions in which this occurs. Mastery is achieved by presenting, assuming, and allowing the statutes of reality to uphold the new state. The narrative demonstrates that all transformation is structural: the assumed identity must be maintained and enforced to bring the latent into the actual, with water serving as the supporting matrix throughout.
